Abstract

This paper is to analyze the USA Indonesia relationship in the period ofObama presidency since the relationship between two countries has a very greatpotency and opportunity to be more improvable As we all recognizethat President Obama has a special relation with Indonesia because ofhe lived through his childhood in Indonesiaeventhough there will be no guarantee that will become the main reason in improving better relationship sinceit is related to many political variables As conclusion this paper argues that the prospect of the USA Indonesiarelationship basically depends on how the two countries implement Comprehensive Partnership Agreement as wellas possible and how both sides give serious attention to improve better bilateral relationship

Abstract

AbstractACFTA was in force since January 2010 in six ASEAN countries and otherfour ASEAN countries in 2015Implementation of thefree trade area between China and ASEAN countries is possible and becomes political andeconomic reality It is historical achievement in their relations in which prior to their relations are colored bytremendous crisis As free trade regions ACFTA banding almost 1 9 billion peoples represented as the biggestfree trade area in the world From the beginning ACFTA is further revitalization of AFTA that ASEAN countriesprefer to be integrated by external actor in which China is more acceptable than Japan or South Korea ACFTA will show opportunities andproblems for all economic actors around the region especially for Indonesia te aileand textile product This makes Indonesian market as second market after China s market Indonesia still does notgive the high priority in export yet towardACFT4 but its percentage consistently tended to increased For importIndonesia also increased thisfrom ACFTA countries Based on this national grasp Indonesian textiles and textileproducts industry arefacing difficult periods especially expansion of China textile and textile product into hxlonesian domestic market Fortunately Indonesian textile and textile products have received the world heritage inwhich this emerged as new energyfor revitalization ofIndonesia textile and textile products in strengthening their competitive advantage and market shares in both domestic and international market Now and then Batik starts tobe the most outstanding Indonesian icon

Abstract

Formation oftheprofile and orientation oflndonesian foreignpolicy in post New Order era is closely relatedto domesticfactors ofdemocratization and externalfactors ofglobalization Democratization movement has prompted the emergence ofnew issues and actors at the national and international level Thefocus in global interactionsand issues offoreign policy is no longer solely associated with traditional issues but also issues of economicsocial culture and religion The linkage between the issues makes the actors in foreign policy are more diverseThe process offormulating and implementing Indonesian foreign policy in post New Order era shows the trendofthe involvement ofstate actors which extends horizontally and vertically as well as non state actors Thereforeit affects the configuration and structure of Indonesian foreign policy and the pattern or style of diplomacy thatplayed by the head ofgovernment Meanwhile the dynamics ofnational economic andpolitical situation after theNew Order era is the main variables that determine Indonesia sforeign policy orientation The governments fromPresident Habibie to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have put the agenda ofeconomic recovery as the maincomponent that directs Indonesianforeign policy However the orientationfaces a dilemma ifit is associated withthe implementation offree and active policy as a basic principle oflndonesian foreign policy

Abstract

The implementation of regional government splitting or proliferation in Indonesia has created many acuteproblems in the local level Meanwhile amalgamation of local government as clearly stated in the regulationis considered as being impossible implemented by the central government itself Government is concerned thatamalgamation policy will only bring turmoil in the region This study explores both society s understanding andgovernment s strategy regarding the possibility of local government amalgamation in Indonesia This study alsomaps both driving and inhibiting factors of the amalgamation policy implementation in Indonesia This studyshows that both elite and people in the study areas do not have an understanding ofconcepts about the benefits ofamalgamation as an alternative policy of regional arrangement

Strait ofMalacca Singapore is still taken into account in international trade and shipping lane Externally three littoral states Malaysia Indonesia and Singapore are parties that govern security and safety ofshipping lane in Strait ofMalacca Singapore according to traffic separation scheme TSS and the Mandatory Ship Reporting System in the Straits ofMalacca and Singapore Straitrep Strait ofMalacca Singapore has different meaningforthe three littoral states especially between Singapore on one side and Malaysia plus Indonesia on the other sideSignificance ofStrait ofMalacca Singaporefor Singapore is caught throughfree transit approach while Malaysiaand Indonesia get its significance through innocent passage approach But there is still another transit passageapproach that can become middle way in solving the differences Even so internally the three littoral states havenot yet solve their maritime boundary problems thoroughly Settlement ofmaritime boundary issues and agreementamong the three countries are very important because the boundary is located in international trade andshipping lane In the future the meaning ofStrait ofMalacca Singapore for the three countries is still very important fortheir national interest and the problem that exist among them is part ofdynamics ofStrait ofMalacca Singaporeneighbourhood

Abstract

Human trafficking remains one of the serious problemsfor Indonesia It reflects the problem oftrafficking asit is a source transit and destination state This demands stronger and more active measuresfrom the governmentto prevent and eliminate this problem How the Indonesian foreign policy to tackle the issue is the main focuss of this paper Indeed Indonesia has carried out multiple efforts to prevent and eradicate trafficking through itspolicydiplomacy and international cooperations However the problem oftrafficking continues to grow Its efforts there fore did notfully success This paper argues that human trafficking is not only a matter offoreign policy Addressing the root causes oftrafficking is also important to prevent and eradicate trafficking especially considering thedomestic and global natures of the problem
